M-6: T-176 Hand Gas Pump
M-6: Gilbert & Barker T-176 Hand Gas Pump

This is a Gilbert & Barker T-176  hand operated gas pump that was made in 1926.  Commonly known as a "Visible", the gas was hand pumped into a 10 gallon visible cylinder at the top where it was visible to the consumer.  This glass cylinder contained gallon markers to indicate the amount that was delivered to the vehicle. These pumps generally used an advertising globe on top to indicate the brand of gasoline being delivered and generally this globe would be lit up at night to attract the consumer. These old hand gas pumps came from an era when the automobile was fast becoming the preferred mode of transportation within the United States, and some of them are approaching 100 years of age. They have become an excellent collectors item because of the rarity and importance to the gas & oil industry and make an excellent display pump for the garage or car collection!

This particular pump has had an older restoration done to it and is in excellent condition and ready to be displayed with whatever brand of gasoline that you designate!  Enjoy!
